This module provides the basic functions of network equipment and mechanism of network protocol (TCP/IP). It provides LAN Design, Basic Switch Concepts and Configuration, VLANs, VTP, STP, Inter-VLAN Routing and Basic Wireless Concepts and Configuration. It finally gives Introduction to WANs, PPP, Frame-relay, Network Security, ACLs, Teleworker Services, Implementing IP Addressing Services and Network Troubleshooting.

planet's physical material, and the processes by which it is formed, moved, and changed.

By the end of this module, trainees should master the concept and technology of surveying applied to engineering structures before, during and after the construction process.

 In the mechanics of materials, the strength of a material is its ability to withstand an applied load without failure or plastic deformation. The course of strength of materials deals with forces and deformations that result from their acting on a material.This course will provide basic skills and knowledge of properties of structures and is pre-requisite of building structural analysis.

Engineering mechanics is that branch of science which deals with the behavior of a body when the body is at rest or in motion. The engineering mechanics may be divided into statics and Dynamics. The branch of science, which deals with the study of a body is at rest, is known as statics while the branch of science which deals with the study of a body when the body is in motion , is known as Dynamics .Dynamics is further divided into kinematics and kinetics. The study of a body in motion, when the forces which cause the motion are not considered is called kinematics and if the forces are also considered for the body in motion, that branch of science is called kinetics.

Metal forming and Fabrication is also known as mechanical working of metals. Metal forming operations are frequently desirable either to produce a new shape or to improve the properties of the metal. Metal forming is a general term for a large group, that includes a wide variety of manufacturing processes.

Strength of materials is a branch of applied mechanics that deals with the behavior of solid bodies subjected to various types of loading. This field of study is known by several names, including "Strength of materials" and "mechanics of deformable bodies". The solid bodies considered in this course include axially loaded members, shafts in torsion, beams, and columns, as well as structures that are assemblies of these components. Usually the objectives of our analysis will be the determination of the stresses, strains, bending and shear force, forces generated in truss members created by the loads. If these quantities can be found for all values of load up to the failure load, then we will have a complete picture of the mechanical behavior of the body.


Brief description of aims and content.

The course “Mobile Apps Development” makes it easy and efficient to learn application development for mobile devices. This course is designed to quickly get you up to speed how to make applications for mobile devices. This course will teach students the basis of platforms for mobile devices and their application lifecycle. Student would be able to develop simple GUI applications, use built in widgets and components, work with the database to store data locally and much more at the end of this course.

This course is intended to provide a body of knowledge on the design of Steel and timber Structures. It is based on theoretical  and is using practical methods and regulations, adopted through the world. The course gives principles of design of such structures as Beams, columns, connections and roof trusses.


This course(Estimating and Costing==Quantity Surveying) will enable students from Year 3 CST to acquire skills of estimating the quantities&Cost(Quotation),Rate analysis, Tendering process, Assets Valuation of all engineering projects.

Indeterminate structures are structures which can not be solved by using only the equations of equilibrium. At the end of this module students will be able to analysis indeterminate structures by applying different methods like:  Force Method and displacement methods.

Foundation is defined as the part of construction usually located below ground level, which transmits the load of super-structure to the base soil. This course will enable the concerned students to acquire the knowledge of soil resisting/bearing capacity from various experts'principles that may resist the super-structures'loading and allow the engineers/constructors to locate the foundation/base in the subsoil. 

The Final Year Project(F Y P) refers to advanced diploma project report conducted by Final year(Year 3) students in advanced program. This is a simple research project that enables students to basically gain research skills and knowledge under guidance of their supervisors. So students are pledged to conduct the basic researches that may promote them to competitive world of innovative ideas.

Basics of Mechanical Workshop practice is a very vast one and it is very difficult for anyone to claim a mastery over it. It provides the basic working knowledge of the production and properties of different materials used in the industry. It also explains the use of different tools, equipment, machinery and techniques of manufacturing, which ultimately facilitate shaping of these materials into various usable forms. In general, various mechanical workshops know by long training how to use workshop tools, machine tools and equipment. Trained and competent persons should be admitted to this type of mechanical works and permitted to operate equipment.



When an external force acts on a body, the body tends to undergo some deformation. Due to cohesion between the molecules, the body resists deformation. This resistance by which material of the body opposes the deformation is known as strength of material.

One of the best ways to communicate one's ideas is through some form of picture or drawing. This is especially true for the engineer. The purpose of this guide is to give you the basics of engineering sketching and drawing.

We will treat "sketching" and "drawing" as one. "Sketching" generally means freehand drawing. "Drawing" usually means using drawing instruments, from compasses to computers to bring precision to the drawings.

This is just an introduction. Don't worry about understanding every detail right now - just get a general feel for the language of graphics.


The aims of this course introduces students to drawing instrumentation, representation of real life objects on different size of papers (scaling, dimensioning), projections, views and sections as a tool of professional engineering communication.

This hypothesis is not an exception in civil engineering; it is applicable in other domains as electronic, hydraulics and so on. Construction materials course is one of the essentials disciplines in civil engineering, highway, industrial and hydraulics constructions.



The broad objective of this module of mathematics is based on helping the students to extend further the applied mathematical ability of learners, to apply basic trigonometry, algebra, geometry and statistics to the resolution of real problems in surveying.

Brief description of aims and content

This module provides the two major models used to plan and implement networks: OSI and TCP/IP, the "layered" approach networks, the OSI and  TCP/IP layers in detail to understand their functions and services, the various network devices and network addressing schemes, the types of media used to carry data across the network, the enhanced switching technologies such as VLANs, VLAN Trunking Protocol(VTP), Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol(RSTP), and 802.1q, the knowledge of configuring and troubleshooting basic operations of a small switched networks, basic operations of routers in a small routed network, VLANs and inter-VLAN routing; configuring and verifying static routing and default routing.



This course of concrete Technology(COT201) will enable students to acquire skills in concrete properties, its ingredients testing and mix design procedures.

The reinforced concrete Design course is the structural course that enable learners to acquire the skills of structural element design in engineering domain.

This course entitled Highway and Transportation engineering is so important to all third year civil engineering students who want to progress the skills in Highway geometric and structural pavement design, drainage and traffic forecasting together with transportation appraisals.

It will enable learners to acquire a very high skills in pavement textile and loading.
